ApplicationXtender from OPENTEXT

ApplicationXtender (AX) has been around since 1993, delivering a solid document management product capable of handling some of the largest implementations. AX allows you to scan documents, capture email and attachments, store them in a database, establish the right access per user and document, quickly search and retrieve them, and to apply retention scheduling over the life of each document. Its simple interface allows for minimal training and support. The base product includes a web client and Windows-thick client; both have native scanning features. There are several add-on modules that provide the additional features some customers require for their business process:

  • Capture – advanced desktop scanning
  • OCR and full-text searching
  • Workflow
  • Electronic Reports Management

This product is available for both local installation and on a hosted platform.


M-Files is a new breed of content management, intuitively managing information by “what” it is vs. “where” it’s stored.  M-Files has many of the features included in comparable content management systems, while providing a look and feel similar to Windows Explorer so training and support are minimized. The product includes a web client, Windows-thick client and mobile client available on Google Play Store. Workflow and basic process automation are included in the product. There are several add-on modules for additional features; below are the most common:

  • OCR (full-text searching is included)
  • SQL exports (for reporting)
  • Intelligent Information Management (for connecting to other content systems)

The platform is available on-premises or as a hybrid or private cloud. M-Files is closely aligned to the Microsoft ecosystem: Azure hosts the cloud product.

PaperVision Enterprise from Digitech Systems

PaperVision Enterprise (PVE) can streamline document-centric processes through intuitive and efficient electronic capture, annotation, filing, search, and retrieval. The streamlined user interface features a customizable “dashboard” home screen that surfaces projects and documents a given user needs most. PVE also delivers optional e-forms creation and processing as well as document security controls that aid in compliance. An optional workflow engine adds business process automation abilities, while other optional modules add email management, print stream processing, file distribution, data replication, and Robotic Process Automation (RPA) to simplify integration with virtually any popular desktop and line-of-business application, as well as with the company’s PaperVision Capture product for capture of paper documents. PVE is available as both on-premises software (PaperVision Enterprise) or via the cloud (PaperVision.com).
